Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends, Fellow Players, and Gentle Readers,
As of January 3, 2003, I am officially no longer involved in a staff capacity with the Bay Area Renaissance Festival. Let me say at the outset that this is strictly a business decision, and that I bear neither ill will nor bad blood toward any person involved. I have thoroughly enjoyed my nine years of service to this show, and I look forward to working with everybody again in the future, when circumstances once more permit.
So, what does this mean for the future of this site?
Not very much. This site was never a part of my contractual obligation, and was created as much because I felt the need to contribute to the wider community of Festival Performers than because of anything else.
Most immediately, the direct references to the show will be edited out. Over the long term, the site will become a little more geared to what my ideal show would be like, rather than to the realities of what this particular Festival has been like. This will show more in the costume section than anywhere else, I think. But these changes are going to show up gradually, as I get time to do things.
In any case, I hope that you will continue to use and enjoy this site. I still plan to add things to it as I find them, and hope that you will continue to send me your ideas and suggestions. No site is ever truly comprehensive, but that is nevertheless the ideal toward which we work.
Travel safe,
Matt
